Women’s Health during Pregnancy
Monday, March 17th, 2008Every year, there are 529,00 women and 5.7 million newborns die, mostly from developing countries (WHO).
In the Philippines alone, 40% of women experience complications during pregnancy, childbirth, or after childbirth, and about 15% develop life threatening problems (DOH).
The mother’s poor health and poor childcare during pregnancy are the usual cause for the common problems encountered.
Ensuring a healthy diet is very important especially during pregnancy. Here’s some few tips to a healthy pregnancy diet:
1. Drink plenty of water. Minimum of 8 glasses and maximum of 12 glasses a day. Staying hydrated helps in avoidance of earlier labor and constipation.
2. Eat foods that are closest to its raw state. For example bananas are better than banana chips.
3. Protein is the building block of every cell in your body. Some studies have shown that adequate protein intake (75g a day or more) can protect you from experiencing problems such as eclampsia, pregnancy included hypertension, and other disorders.
4. Take the right amount of prenatal vitamins to ensure healthy growth of your baby.
5. Enjoy every minute of your time and stay focused on the positive thoughts.
